It is 14 days until our merry band of GAPP travelers takes off for a fun filled month in Germany. I know the students are excited and many of them are a bit nervous (they all think they have forgotten EVERYTHING they ever learned in German class). I keep telling them the exposure to German is the most important part and if all you can do is smile, then SMILE. It will be okay.
I am still working on finalizing all of everything and received our itinerary for our Rhein River adventure at the end of the trip today. All except the times! Oh, well, a quick email to the tour company should solve that dilemma. I think pretty much everything else is taken care of. I bumped up our departure time from school from 2 pm up to noon, because right now the TSA backups at both of Chicago's airports is a bit concerning. BUT...if we can't get through security in 6 hours, we are not meant to go. I am not going to fret about it. Fretting just makes me anxious and when I am anxious, I twist my hair up into little knots and for those of you who know me really well, I can't really twist my hair much tighter than it already is...LOL!
But I am starting to get excited about this year's trip. Having 20 people on the trip who have never been to Germany is exciting and maybe the jaded scales will fall from my eyes when I see the wonder in theirs. We just have to get through these last 10 days of school, my kiddo has to get moved home from college this weekend and I need to finish unpacking my house from my move a few or three weeks ago...but the moving boxes will still need to be unpacked when I get back, right? Time to start thinking about packing my suitcase!
